Ok, even though I'm still slogging through the end of the podcast novel, the Lounge will return Jan. 8th with an Ariel showcase.

Because I now have a cheapo webcam and can do location shoots, sorta, I'm thinking of doing a video version of SL with music video clips of featured bands. I have at least 5 videos of bands from the upcoming show with plans to play 3 of them, so I've been looking into music video shows. I found that most of them play just one video, or are individual band shows, and only one show down in Australia plays clips from different groups (who submit videos for play) - Cybster TV (http://www.cybster.tv/) .

Anyway, we'll see in a couple weeks.

I uploaded the video file a few days ago to Mevio (because the show was 16 min. long, too long for YouTube). It's getting quite a few looks, which is encouraging, even though the audio seems to be a bit off-sync. The next shows will only have three videos max.

I haven't decided on a weekly or monthly format, but I'll work that out while putting together next week's Lounge. One thing's for certain - I'll have to start producing podcasts in advance just to cover my butt...

Ok, I uploaded vodcast no. 2 a few hours ago. The audio is synched, but it's a little distorted on my intro segment and the first song. I know Windows Movie Maker is supposed to be a great app, but the damn thing won't give me .m4a files - I'm stuck with the much larger .wmv as a final product. Since I can't afford Quicktime Pro, I'm gonna search for an freeware alternate...

Even with these minor quibbles, the daily variety of looksees for the show so far is very gratifying.

Ok, I uploaded episode No. 3 a couple hours ago. This one is all "album-cover" videos of previously featured songs, and because it's been raining this week (real rain, not the heavy sprinkles typical for SoCal) I did a voiceover and slideshow instead of a location shoot.

Interesting thing - On Saturday, I was checking the looksees and was surprised to find "Podfather" Adam Curry among the roster of online audience. Damn! I haven't done the regular 'podcast' stuff for this show either - not writing up an XML feed, no search engine seeding or submitting it to show directories, not even iTunes, and in two weeks this thing has pulled almost 150 hits per the first two episodes? Maybe I should send it to iTunes...

------------------------

Ok, I took a minute to actually check through Google, and it seems Mevio punched up an XML file for me (http://www.mevio.com/feeds/sloungetv.xml). Cool.

Ok, On Tues. March 9, 2010, Karl Rove, "Bush's Brain". released a self-aggrandizing contrivance of his political past, "Courage and Consequence," in all of its hard-bound, chicken hawk glory.

A week before, On March 3rd, a coalition of up-and-coming rock bands released an anticipatory sonic recollection of the gross misdeeds attributable to Rove over the past decade, "Courage and Consequence: The Unabridged Audio," in all of its aggressively righteous indignation. I call it a full-throated, informed and sincere "fuck you" to Turd Blossom and his media enablers attempting to rewrite the history we all just lived through.
